Using LAN-USB with IOW56

Dear readers, For some of our projects we need to put our hardware containing an IOW56 (V1.0.0.2R) on a other location then the PC in charge of controlling it. So we have to extend USB connection behind it limitations. A nice option is using a LAN USB converter, also because the already exsisting LA...

Re: USB Selective Suspend under Win7

... sorry forgot about hubs...

No we are aware of hub problems and even don't use (these times quite common) USB connection on the monitor.
IOW56 is always connected directly to the USB port on the PC's main board (back side of PC).

Re: USB Selective Suspend under Win7

Hallo Guido, I understand that whenever there is USB traffic the USB suspend mode will not be active. However within our experiment setup with the IOW56 involved for the actual IO, it is quite common that there is no I/O (hence USB commands to/from IOW56) for several minutes, hours and sometimes eve...

USB Selective Suspend under Win7

Dear readers, We're facing some unwanted behaviour of our IO control system based on the IOW56 module. The system is used for controlling long term experiments (hours...days) and we're using both "simple" TTL I/O" and the SPI features on the IOW56. One of our users complain about miss...

Sonstiges?

Groeten,

Willem

Re: IO warrior spurious behavior

Hi Guido, Would be possible, although some redesign is needed... How about the option (available on my hardware by just placing a jumper) to supply the IOW56 module both from PC's USB bus AND 5V supply from the additional hardware? Of course (power-shottky)diode is placed in series to prevent these ...

Re: IO warrior spurious behavior

Hi all, We finally found a way to get our system into this "problem" mode, this maybe a help to find a solution... Our hardware is using the USB power for just and only the IOW56 module, external power source for DAC and other electronics connected to the IOW. To get the system into proble...

Re: IO warrior spurious behavior

The supply on IOW is 4.75V, this voltage is comming from the USB port of the PC wich is actually 5.05Volt. The voltage drop is caused by a shottky power diode in serie, because I want to have the option (selectable by a jumper) to have the IOW also supplied from my board. At the moment IOW56 supply ...

Re: IO warrior spurious behavior

Hi Guido, I "talk" to a DAC (MCP4822). ChipSelect of the DAC connected to SPI-SS on IOW56. IOW-56 SPI Enable set to 01, Mode set to 00, clock to FF Just 2 bytes to sent. Whenever things are working (and they do on the "old" DELL precission 380 single core) I can perfectly init th...

IO warrior spurious behavior

Hello all, we are using the IO warrior 56 (and SDK) to control custom made hardware. When using the SPI bus sometimes it fails to work. We witnessed that it both worked and not worked on the same pc (which is a DELL T3400 with an Intel Core 2 Duo 3 GHz processor). There doesn't seem to be a pattern ...

Re: IOW56 (SPI) speed performance

OK Guido,
So the actual USB connector on the PC is not that important in terms of my TTL IO speed.
Well, then our software engineer may have a closer look at his code.

Maybe he get in touch with more specific questions on this speed item if you don't mind....

Re: IOW56 (SPI) speed performance

Thank you Guido! I understand as overall speed result to read/write all my data to the IO expander chipset some 7 or 8 ms should be possible, that would be fine. However, our software engineer find results in order of upto 60...65ms. I wonder if the problem could be in the USB port type (USB1 or USB...

IOW56 (SPI) speed performance

Dear forum members, I’m working on hardware to be connected to the IOW56 to do SPI based I/O to several slaves (up to 14) and have to make estimation on overall IO speed/performance. I realize the “magic number” for HID USB2 by the IOW56 is 1ms per report, but how many reports are involved in the en...

(sorry for my bad German..)

Guido, I'm "happy" the effect is also strange to you....It took me quite some time to find the solution. Watching MISO versus clock on a storagescope showed for sure the serial data was false (concerning paralel input) but the logical levels seems to be OK; also steep 1 to 0 and 0 to 1 cro...
