Thanks. Also ... and I know IO-Warrior is for the testbench as you've said ... but a friend of mine tells me one NEVER has electronics in an ungrounded case. My case is completely plastic. But...isn't the IO-Warrior 24 grounded through the USB connection to my Mac? Would the LCD not similarly be gro...

Whoa, how long are those cables to the LCDs? The signalling on them is running at a couple 100kHz. Anything beyond a foot or 30cm is really critical. Since the lamps have quite large transformers in their bases (at least they look like it) there is going to be quite some magentic pulse when you swi...

desk lamp blanks out IO-Warrior 24...
I have two desk lamps. They can be seen here: http://www.blakespot.com/list/images/g5_desktop.jpg The right lamp, when I turn it on, usually causes one or both of the 20x4 LCDs I'm running (I am running two IO-Warrior 24s and two LCDs) to freeze up and the backlight goes dark. Sometimes just one goe...

Must IO-Warrior appear as a human interface device?
The current Mac OS X driverset makes the IO-Warrior 24 appear to the system as a human interface device. When it is receiving a datastream from an appication, the screens will not sleep in OS X. (I am trying to sleep the screens, not the system.) Is there an alternate or beta driver set that allows ...

Need Mac code to turn off IO-Warrior 24's LCD.
I've been looking at this project (based on an IO-Warrior 40) as an example: http://monitzer.com/iowarrior/ I need to modify certain parts of that code... data[0]=0x04; data[1]=0x01; data[2]=0x00; data[3]=0x00; data[4]=0x00; data[5]=0x00; data[6]=0x00; data[7]=0x00; data[8]=0x00; IOWarriorWriteToInt...

You need at least a circuit that switches the backlight on and off. Have a look at the IO-Warrior datasheet, it shows how to connect an LCD module. The IOW24KIT already has the necessary hardware on the board. I am told somewhere on this site is a circuit diagram for attaching an LCD that has a bac...

Backlight concerns - driving circuitry?
I am trying to build a little sys stats LCD unit for my computer and am going to use the IO-Warrior controller . Here is an example project just as I will be carrying out. I am told that certain types of backlighting can complicate matters as they require a regulated higher initial voltage, then a l...

Which LCDs work w/ IO-Warrior 40/24?
I want to setup a small LCD for use with Mac OS X using the IO-Warrior controller. I noted this project: http://monitzer.com/iowarrior/ He uses an IO-Warrior 40. Could I use a 24 for this, with the LCD interface already on the board? Will IO-Warrior drive Crystalfontz LCDs, such as these 20x4 units,...
