IO warrior is not recognized

Post by VoteHillary »

Hi,

I just finished my new IO warrior 40. If I plug it, it does not show up under the usb list (in about this mac-> more info). If I play a demo it says that no IO warrior available.

If I use the USB prober I get the following errors after plugging the IO warrior:

522.989 [1] AppleUSBOHCI[0x1654000]::MakeDevice error setting address. err=0xe00002ed device=0x21e7400 - releasing device
523.433 [1] AppleUSBOHCI[0x1654000]::MakeDevice error setting address. err=0xe00002ed device=0x21e7400 - releasing device
523.877 [1] AppleUSBOHCI[0x1654000]::MakeDevice error setting address. err=0xe00002ed device=0x21e7400 - releasing device
524.322 [1] AppleUSBOHCI[0x1654000]::MakeDevice error setting address. err=0xe00002ed device=0x21e7400 - releasing device

What must I do? A visual check, to me the solder seems fine, what can it be?

Thanks for helping me!

When it does not show up as a device none of the samples can work.

It looks like the Mac detectes that there is a new device plugged in but the device is not working. This can have a number of reasons.

Check if there are any short circuits on the USB lines and the power supply. Make sure the IO-Warrior does get supply voltage.

next step

Hi,

Sorry for the slow response. I needed to get a multimeter. I am a newby so sorry for any stupid questions or remarks.

I checked the voltage both on the USB port (on the plug) and on the chip. Both indicated a 4, 38 volt. This seems ok to me, is it?

If the voltage is both at the beginning of the circuit and on the chip this value there is no shortcut (or am i thinking the wrong way?).

Anyhow, still havent found the error. What should I do next?

Many thanks!

Check if there is a short between the USB lines or if the pins of the oscillator have a short.

the usb lines gives a voltage of 2.9 volts
the oscillator gives about 0.01 volts

Checking the voltages does not tell the whole story. However the voltage at the oscillator does not sound good.

ok,

what to do now, what should I also measure to get the full story?

what should the oscillator indicate? Does this mean there is something wrong with the chip (that i cannot fix) or could it be in the 'wiring' somewere (that i can fix)?

thanks,

Check for short circuits.

The voltage at the aoscialltor does not really tell a lot. It should be significantly higher than 0V though. But to have a useful test there you would need an oscilloscope.

I checked all connections for short circuits using the resistance meter, but I can not find any shorts.

(however, I am a newby so maybe i have done something wrong)

What remains to try?

Thanks,

Can you send the board in so we can check it here?
