IO Warrior driving 12vdc relays?

Post by JakobMetzger »

I am going to be using this in my CarPC and was wondering if IO Warrior is capable of turning on/off regular 12vdc car relays? Ive read the specs
O-Warrior 40
• 32 I/O Pins, typ. 125Hz read rate
• IIC master function, 100kHz, throughput typ. 750 bytes/sec
• Controlling HD44780 compatible LCD
• Driving a up to 8x32 LED matrix
• Driving a 8x8 switch or button matrix
• DIL40 or SSOP48 package

and if it can run those relays, do the 32 I/O pins mean that I can run 32 relays off of that one board? Thanks for the help

Yes, this is possible. Though you can not drive the relays direct, the IO-Warrior can not tolarate 12V and not supply enough current. You will need some driver that fits the specs of the relays.

The data sheet has an example for driving relays.
