Button Matrix?

Post by stickMaker »

 Hiya, In an effort to clearly understand.
XO>diode>button>YO+Y1+Y2+Y3
X1>diode>button>" "
X2>diode>" "
X3>diode>" "

They do not go to ground, 16 buttons, 16 diodes, each single X terminal connects with all 4 Y terminals Am I understanding?
TY

No they do not connect to ground and no, they do not connect to all Y lines. An individual button connects to one X and one Y line and it has a diode in series.

:D Hello,
So then a button circuit path would be:
xo>diode>button>yo x1>diode>button>yo x2>diode>button>y2
xo>diode>button>y1 x1>diode>button>y1 etc..
etc.. etc..

Can the diodes be after the buttons?

Yes, does not matter if the diode is before or behind the switch.
