Problem with JW24MOD-A8-16

Post by massimiliano »

Hi,
I bought a JW24MOD-A8-16, I connected the buttons according to 4x4 matrix that I saw in your pdf file; when I connect joywarrior to PC, all buttons in "game controller" of WindowsXP are ignited and when I push nothing happen.
Can you help me about wiring diagram? Is it necessary to connect all 16 buttons?

Thank you very much :D

Any single button connecting between one X and one Y line should do. Maybe you did put the diodes in the wrong direction?

Excuse me, but I don't understand, what do you mean for "diode direction"?

Don't you have diodes in the switch matrix?

If you don't put diodes at every switch in the matrix you can get "phantom keys" when pressing 3 or more buttons at the same time. That effect looks like you are pressing more buttons than you actually do. Without diodes in the matrix it is impossible for the controller to decide if a button is really pressed or just looks like it is pressed because there is a certain pattern of buttons pressed in the matrix.
